What I love about Constanta
Trip Planner
What I love most about Constanta is the seaside promenade. I like to start from Saint Peter & Paul Cathedral, walk along the coastline past the beautiful Casino and stop at the Tourist Marina where there are lots of bistros & ice-cream shops. On a different note, Constanta is famous for its northern district called “Mamaia”, the most popular beach resort area in Romania with loads of 5 star hotels, restaurants & beach clubs. Nicknamed the “Ibiza” of the Black Sea, Mamaia is a long strip of fine golden sand, having the sea on the eastern side and Siutghiol Lake on the west. Since it’s just a 10 min drive from Constanta downtown to Mamaia beach, I often booked accommodation in Old Town area so that I may enjoy the nice architecture while still having quick access to the northern beaches.

Frequently Asked Questions about travel to Constanta
How long should I stay in Constanta?
We recommend spending two full days in Constanta. On your first day you can explore the Old Town and the Casino, then relax on a beautiful beach. The next day, you can visit Mamaia. Considered the "Ibiza" of the Black Sea, this luxury seaside district of Constanta is a favorite weekend getaway for locals, but also one of the most sought-after resorts on the entire Black Sea coast. A narrow stretch of fine sand between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol ("Lake of Milk" in Turkish), Mamaia boasts numerous hotels, a casino, sports facilities (water sports, biking, tennis, and beach games), and hip nightclubs and restaurants located within 100 feet of the sea. You can spend the mornings cooling down at the beach or at the Aqua Magic Park, located at the very entrance of the resort, and the afternoons taking in the view of the Black Sea by riding the Telegondola ("Cable Car"). Between Mamaia and Constanta, you can stroll through the Satul de Vacanta amusement park, featuring rides, a bowling alley, an open-air bazaar and several restaurants. At times crowded, the park is a local come-together with a charm of its own. The Summer Theatre of Mamaia is the venue for the annual Romanian Pop Music Festival and various other shows.
What are Constanta's must-see sights?
You can start your exploration from the Capitoline She-Wolf statue, a symbol of the city's Roman past, then walk down Tomis Boulevard. Along the way, you can visit the Ethnographic Museum, Ovidiu Square, the National History and Archeology Museum and its famous annex, the Roman Bathhouse and Mosaics. An important landmark is the Constanta Casino, a modern era city symbol and masterpiece of 19th century architecture. You can continue this relaxing, wonderful walk along the seaside promenade, passing by the Genoese Lighthouse and the Marina, where you'll find many yachts and restaurants.
